Flashback: Western Branch Just Dominated The Nation in 72 Hours

Over the span of a mere 72 hours the Bruins of Western Branch put on an absolute clinic at Boo Williams. Over these past three days they have competed in the SED (Southeastern District) regular season meet #2 and the Boo Williams Winter Break Invite. 

Though a lot of teams had great weeks and even a few athletes had US #1 performances, none had quite the week or even just 72 hours like Branch did. It all started for them in the triple jump competitions at SED.

On Thursday, Gary Williams and Jada Terrell got things popping for Branch from the start by both posting impressive marks. Williams jumped a VA #1 46-2 and Terrell went VA #4 39-3.25. That isn't too shabby considering this was their season opening marks and only the tip of the iceberg. 

They closed out the SED meet after numerous other great performances by running VA #1 3:54 and VA #1 3:25.70 in both the girls' and boys' 4x400m relays. 

Those times and marks were clearly not enough because they were on a mission Friday and Saturday as well. Shadajah Ballard (sophomore) opened her season running VA #2 7.05 in the 55 and her senior teammate Micaiah Harris opened in 6.47. 

They followed that speed up and then some with a blazing US #1 1:40.97 in the 4x200 and US #3 1:30.50. Though those times are very impressive already, the fact that they are flat track times makes them undeniably great. 1:30 on a flat track is moving and shows that Branch has 1:37 and 1:27 potential this year. 

To close out their dominant stretch of days both teams posted US #1 times in the shuttle hurdle relay with the boys running 31.54 and the girls running a US All-Time #2 (behind their own school and national record) 31.57.
