Carr had his work cut out for him to get the victory though. Louisa County sophomore Daniel Kane ran right with Carr for the majority of the race until Carr pulled away at the end for a great early season time of 15:28. Kane ended up finishing 5 ticks later at 15:33.
Addison ran solo for the majority of the race as she set her quick pace by her own drive. Addison ran a spectacular race, winning in 18:34 with that time being 41 seconds faster than runner-up Claire Whitenack of Albemarle who finished in at 19:15.
The Albemarle boys crushed the rest of the field as they boys team title placing their entire top five in the top 30 and in the process, scoring 83 points. They were led by senior James Atchison's tenth place finish at 16:22.
Addison's Thomas Jefferson had the studs in herself and senior Ashley Seaton finishing in sixth place (19:44), but didn't have the depth to win a team title as the Manchester girls were far surperior in that area as they were able to place five runners in the top 28. Manchester ended up with 69 points which was 9 better than TJ's total of 78.
