Kate Murphy & Drew Hunter Both To Race in Millrose Wanamaker Mile!

Annually the biggest and most important race in all of indoor track is the Millrose Games' Wanamaker Miles. Year after year they provide great competition and even better races. This year's races will include two very familiar faces with Kate Murphy in the Women's Professional race and Drew Hunter in the Men's Professional race.

Kate Murphy's Athlete Profile

After last year's high school meet record 4:41.84, it is no surprise Kate Murphy was offered the chance to really see how fast she can go. She went on to run 4:39 at indoor nationals and this outdoor season blazed a Olympic Trials' qualifying time of 4:07.21  in the 1500m.

This year has already seen her help break two big records in January alone. She opened up the season at Ocean Breeze (NY) with a senior national class record of 9:14 in the 3K and followed it up with a 4:37 anchor split to help break the DMR National Record at the VA Showcase.

She is seeded 13th in the race with her 4:39.17 2016 performance. If she is 100% healthy and ready to go, she is going to be right up there come that bell lap.

In the mens' race it will be Drew Hunter's chance to shine yet again. The Loudoun Valley graduate grew to national fame last year with his 3:57.81 indoor mile performance. That time was run at the Millrose Games but in the unseeded professional mile as he opted to move out of the Wanamaker Mile due to illness.

Drew will be joined by another Virginia resident in Henry Wynne (UVA) who also has made the cut for the very elite Wanamaker Mile.

The Millrose Games will take place in Washington Height, NYC on February 11th.
