The inaugural Queen Track Classic was a complete hit. From the athlete parade to the DJ to the though competition you could tell it was all about VA's Track Queens and they loved it.
Highlighting the meet were 42 nationally elite performances out of 164 total performances which means more than 25% of all the performances at this meet were nationally elite, a higher percentage than almost any other meet this year. By the numbers the biggest events at this meet were the long jump, triple jump, and shot put competitions.
In both the long and triple jumps a total of 12 nationally elite performances were jumped. The biggest of them being Titiana Marsh's 20-0.25 long jump and 42-6.5 triple jump. Those jumped combine for a 62-6.75 distance which is greater than any other VA athlete ever based on their pr's. The scary thing though is that those weren't even season bests for Marsh and she had a much bigger jump.
Right before finals Marsh was launching those jumps and on one of them she toe-fouled by a mere inch but managed to jump what had to have been over 45 feet! Be ready for this track queen to show out down in Greensboro.
Really stealing the show though was Grassfield's Taylor Gorum who took home the shot put (45-4.75), discus (146-5.25), and field event athlete of the meet honors. To win those titles she not only had to throw some of the best all-time throws but also had to take down the 4A and 5A state champions in those events.
Winning the 200 and finishing as the runner-up in the 400 was your running event MVP, Kayla Hugg.
