Annandale freshman star Julia Ghiselli is certainly making a name for herself in a big way this season. Despite not even having goals for the season she has quickly emerged as the girl to beat in 6A this year. Her Octoberfest Invitational winning time of 17:43 cemented her spot as the favorite considering it was a meet record, a course record for VA athletes, and the fastest time a freshman has ever run at this historic venue.
Julia Ghiselli's Athlete Profile
The race itself went great for Julia who finished a close second at the Great Meadow Invitational to Bethany Graham back in August. This time though it was Julia in complete control the entire way. She was a part of a five lady group thru the opening mile in 5:45 but shortly after that began to pull away from the field.
Deep Run's Lily Snow held on the longest and stayed with her until they began the second loop but by the time Julia had hit the mile mark a second time she had opened the lead to nearly 40 seconds. She ultimately went on to win by that same 39 second margin over Lily.

This is Julia's second win on the season and a good sign for all the fans in the state because she could be one of, if not the biggest star we have seen. Her time, on a much tougher course equals Rachel McArthur's 6A State winning time from 2014 and ranks as the 16th fastest time ever run on any Great Meadow course. She ranks as the 13th fastest athlete ever at Great Meadow.
