Saint Catherine's mid-distance superstar Hannah Ballowe is tearing up the XC rankings this year. Despite being a junior in her first XC season she by and far the favorite for the VISAA title this fall. She ranks 30th in the entire state with her 18:54 victory at Patrick Henry this past weekend but more impressively leads the VISAA State rankings by a whopping 27 seconds.
Under the coaching of Sherry Edwards and crew, Ballowe has emerged as one of the best athletes in the entire Richmond area for both private & public schools. So far, she has tallied up four individual state titles and a couple relay titles just through her sophomore year.
This year though it could be very lopsided for the Saints with Hannah favored to win another seven individual state titles this alone! Now there is always the talk that competition is not as tough in VISAA but when you look at her profile you see that all she does is win. In fact, in 2017 she toed the line in 30 races and was victories in 26 of them. In the others she was second, third, second, and second. One of which was a 200m dash!
Hannah can no longer be just categorized as a mid-distance star, she is moving up the rankings and in distance. Hannah Ballowe is the biggest star of VISAA and you better be ready for a big post-season from her in the 2017-18 school year.
