VCU women's track and field performs well at Ram Invitational

RICHMOND, Va. – The Virginia Commonwealth women's track and field hosted the 2004 Ram Invitational at Sports Backers Stadium on March 19-20. Tanika Brown placed first in the high jump with a leap of 5-6 on Saturday.

Brown also placed fifth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:06.24. Pia Ruth finished first among the preliminaries in the 100-meter dash with a time of 14.68, and finished fourth overall. Cheri Manning crossed the line third in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.92, which is a personal best.

In the distance events, Rachael Taft finished the 3K in a time of 10:46.37 for a sixth place finish. Taft also placed third in the steeplechase (11:27.18). In the 10K, Jean Addison finished with a time of 39:26.75(5th).

Lauren Stewart earned a third place mark in the pole vault with a leap of 10-10. In the shot put, Priscella Uman (42-2, 4th), Ashley Rogers (40-11.5, 5th) and Fallon Wilson (40-6.25, 6th) all placed in the top-10.

The women's squad will host a tri-meet next Sunday, Mar. 28 at Sports Backers Stadium with Richmond and William & Mary. The team will return to Sports Backers on April 16-17 when they host the Colonial Athletic Association Track and Field Championships.
