The 2009 Gus Lacy Track Classic is definitely the largest in the meet's history as Fork Union coach and meet director Winston Brown ended up allowing a few more teams than the usual limited field format has allowed. It was likely tough for Coach Brown to say "NO" to many of schools who will be attending the meet on Saturday as many of the state's top high school track & field programs have decided that Gus Lacy is the place to be on the third weekend of April. The field includes several cross country and track state championship squads from this past year as well as numerous state champion and All-American individuals.
