VES Sophomore Dan O'Brien certainly made a strong case for himself this weekend. Not only did he win the 1600m state title but he also won the 3200 title as well. That combined with a 3rd place finish in the 1K made for quite the weekend.

Dan first took home the 1600m title in a near photo finish with his 4:25.97 PR and victory. A couple hours later he was in a very quick 1K race and eventually finished third in 2:41 and then closed out his day with a 3200 victory in 9:51. That was his 6th win in that event this year.
The best part of the weekend though is remembering that he is just a sophomore and already winning runner of the meet honors and scoring 26 points in the distance races which is not easy. It should be an exciting next couple of years with him on the track.
