One of the, if not the, most impressive performances from the 2018 VISAA State Championships came from Bridget Fitzsimon. This performance or rather performances were not just this weekend but over three years and it all came down to the final race, the 300m dash. In that race she left nothing to doubt and blew away the competition to win in 42.16.
She preceded that win with a 7.36 victory in the 55m dash. Those times rank second and third all-time at the state meet. The most impressive stat though is the one we eluded to earlier. She did not only win both the 55 and 300 this year but successfully did so three years in a row. That was a feat that only Francena McCorory had pulled off before this weekend.
Bridget also ran on the 4x200m relay which finished third scoring an additional six points. Those finishes helped Bridget tie Saint Catherine's Hannah Ballowe in points and thus a share of the running events MVP.
