This West Springfield sophomore is on a mission. He is currently VA #1 for 6A 3200 and VA #5 for 6A 1600 with his personal bests of 9:28 and 4:20. He will definitely want to improve those times this week but what is really on his mind is a state title.
Chris Week's Athlete Profile
Chris was the regional runner-up last week in the 1600 and it looks like he is primed for a solid double this weekend. He has not run the 3200 in a few weeks which leads us to believe he has been training very hard and looking forward to opening it back up this weekend at states.
Weeks is not the typical 3200m runner though. That is what makes his bid for the state title quite interesting. See with Chris his stats lead us to believe he is more of a speed guy with his pr's of 2:35 (1K) and 4:20 (1600). In the longer stuff he owns a decent pr in XC of 16:15 for 5K.
That is what makes it very interesting. He has a ton of speed and a very solid pr in the 3200 but not yet in XC. That doesn't lead us to thinking he is more of a 1600 guy but that he is actually more of a 3200 guy whose base is just now forming into a much more solid base.
His main events may be all the events from the 1K to the 3200 but we are not going to count him out at the higher end of his range. What we are going to do is warn everyone else that he could very well have a huge break through and seriously challenge Grant Northcutt for the crown.
That is why this could be Chris Weeks' Week!
