2008 was the year of Ja-Vell Bullard as the now rising sophomore at George Mason University had a remarkable senior on the track at Bethel High School in the long sprints. Bullard was impressive at the national level with victories at 400 meters in the Nike Indoor Nationals, Nike Outdoor Nationals, and AAU Junior Olympics. Bullard ran his personal best of 46.54 at the 2008 Nike Outdoor Nationals in Greensboro and also ran one of the fastest 300 times ever indoors in a 2008 US leading 33.97 at the Virginia Tech Invite as he led the nation in several events indoors for much of his senior year.

Bullard was a state champion indoors in 2008 at 300 and 500 meters as the 500 was an exciting win against Taylor Sykes with the two posting the nation's two fastest times in the event with Bullard as the winner at 1:04.10. He also helped Bethel run some great times in the relays including Nike Indoor National titles in the 4x400 and 4x200.
