Pre-Season Group A cross country rankings (team & individual) broken down by regions. Based on strictly 5K performances from the 2008 cross country season. Megan Marsico of Glenvar will be the heavy favorite to repeat as Group A state champion as a returning Foot Locker finalist and the state's top ranked runner last fall, but Group A has another emerging star in Natalie Young (pictured right by John Herzog) who won state track titles this past spring with Marsico's absence from the state track championships due to injury. In her freshmen year at George Mason High School, Young posted best times of 18:34 for 5K (track), 11:23 for 3200 meters (Group A outdoor state champion), and 5:17 for 1600 meters (Group A state runner-up).
