
From the cow fields of Daleville in Southwest Virginia, one would not have expected to find a 7 foot high jumper. Adam Linkenauger, a son of a dairy farmer, ended up becoming the best high jumper from Group AA this past decade including setting the Group AA indoor state met record. Linkenauger was victorious when he went up against the best from the larger schools including high jump titles at the Penn Relays and Southern Track Classic and earning All-American honors twice with a third place finish at Nike Indoor Nationals and fourth place finish at the adidas Outdoor Championships.
A 2003 graduate of Lord Botetourt High School, Linkenauger cleared 7 feet three times with a 7'0.25" best in his final high school meet at the 2003 adidas Outdoor Championships in Raleigh, North Carolina.
