The Northwest Region certainly has produced some of the most versatile female athletes in Virginia this past decade between the likes of Gar-Field's Sheena Johnson and Brooke Point's April Sinkler. The most recent being the 2007 Brooke Point High School graduate Sinkler (pictured above by John Herzog) who ironically broke two of Sheena Johnson's meet records from the Dogwood Track Classic in a great meet from Sinkler with marks of 19'7" and 39'8.75".

 

Unfortunately, Sinkler never won a state title in some very competitive years in the jumpers including the epic 2007 state indoor battle in the high jump in which she cleared 5'9" as well as two others achieved the height. She had a nice consolation prize to wrap up her high school career in winning the high jump national title at the 2007 Nike Outdoor Nationals matching her personal best at 5'9".
