Indoor Underway

LYNCHBURG, VA - It didn't take long for indoor track season to get underway. It began today at the Lynchburg Area Track & Field Club's Christmas Indoor Track Invitational at the Lynchburg College Fieldhouse. No team scores were nor were relays run, but there was some notable individual performances. All races were run in yards, rather than the usual meters unit, so for in order you to find the meter distance of each race you have to multiply the total yards by .91.

Prince Edward County sophomore Octavia Best was impressive as she placed in all three jumping events. She won the long jump (17'05.50"), took third and sixth respectively in the triple jump and high jump. The versatile Best also took second in the 60 yard hurdles (9.33).

George Washington senior Nikeita Lee was a step ahead of everyone in the running events. She was a double winner as she took victories in the 600 yard run (1:32.90) and 1000 yard run (2:57.40).

Coming off of his stellar 13th place finish at the Foot Locker South Region Meet last weekend, Fork Union's Kippy Keino blazed a 2:22.30 to win the 1000 yard run.

Atlee's Nick Robinson had by far the best meet out of any of the male competitors. Robinson won the long jump (21'02.50"), triple jump (44'06.00"), and 60 yard hurdles (8.15). He could have won this meet by himself if scores were kept as he also took runnerup honors in the high jump (6'00.00") and 300 yard dash (34.70) as well.
