Natalie Barnes: Redefining What Distance Means

Redefining Distance in Loudoun County

Natalie is a self-admitted competitive person. She is rarely satisfied with her performances unless she is continually getting better. So far though she is trending up and up. This year's state meet will be a true test to her abilities with likely battles between her, Kori Carter, Britton Wilson, Jahnelle Saunders, Jordan Hardy, and many more. Her biggest competition though is herself.

"Those state titles mean a lot to me and help remind me of what I can do."

All of those other athletes are from places known for their sprinters and jumpers while Natalie is from LoCo which is really only thought of as a distance area. She relishes the chance though to prove them all wrong and continue the winning ways of Loudoun County at indoor states where they have never lost a horizontal jumps title. She put it nice and simple - "I want to show that Loudoun County not only has talent in distance but many other events as well."

Winning this title or even titles would mean a lot to her and Stone Bridge but what matters most is the distance itself. She is not only after the victories but also the all-time records too. If she were able to jump her outdoors PR she would certainly be happy. That 20-1 would move her up to VA #3 all-time indoors and a 20-5 would tie the state record.
