Last week Theo Woods took over the state leaderboard with his win at Bojangles, this week he took over the national leaderboard and did it completely by himself. His 1:50.24 winning time was not only good enough to take over the US No. 1 spot but it also now ranks him VA No. 15 all-time.
His time is also the fastest time since 2016's Dogwood race which featured VA No. 2, No. 3, and No. 4 all-time.
In the race itself Theo was on a mission. He opened in 25 mid and came thru halfway in 52-53. He then finished sub 60 in blustery conditions at The Heritage Invitational. He went on to win by a staggering 13 second margin.
Next up for Theo will be a local twilight meet this week followed by the Dogwood Invitational at UVA the first Saturday in May.
