Both VISAA Division I and II state cross country champions are back for the fall of 2009 with The Potomac School's Anneka Wilson and Fuqua School's Dalton Kuhar. Wilson went undefeated against in-state competition until Foot Locker South last fall and won a hard rough state title last November at Woodberry Forest against the likes of Barbara Strehler of Trinity and Megan Fitzpatrick of Bishop O'Connell. Wilson will look to enjoy a bit more breathing room this fall with no serious challenger to her currently as the season approaches.

 

Many of the state team contenders have several girls featured in the top 15 pre-season rankings including St. Catherine's, Bishop O'Connell, and Norfolk Academy. The impact of freshmen, middle schoolers (can compete for private school varsity teams), and transfers should be felt in the early season meets.
