Pre-Season XC Rankings - Group AA Boys Teams

The Blacksburg boys could be beginning a two year reign of dominance in Group AA (and throughout the state of Virginia) as many of the traditional powers over the last few years will be undergoing a rebuilding year. The scary thought about the Blacksburg boys is with the exception of Matt Howard (pictured left by Scott Rigler), virtually the same team will return for the fall of 2010 with a strong class of juniors.

On the other hand, a lot of question marks linger for the teams trailing Blacksburg in Group AA. Grafton had a lot of success on the track and posted quick times, but will need to translate the same success in major meets west including at Great Meadow for the state championships. Christiansburg and Cave Spring join district rival Blacksburg returning young squads from 2008. Meanwhile, Brentsville looks to make a run for the podium after failing to qualify for state competition last fall for the first time in many years.
