Trevor Stewart Just Went 44.25 To Finish As NCAA Runner-up

AUSTIN, Tx. - South County graduate and North Carolina A&T athlete Trevor Stewart came within inches of winning an NCAA title this weekend. The Virginia native ran a blistering 44.25 to finish second to Houston's Kahmari Montgomery who won the national title in 44.23 seconds.

Stewart's time ranks World No. 3 this season. His time also ranks as the second fastest Virginia time ever according to the data we could find. The only time faster than his was LaShawn Merritt's 2015 43.65 personal best.

Trevor was a one-time state champion while in high school and owned a personal best of 46.44 in the 400m dash. He ranks 7th all-time in the state based on his high school performance.

Stewart is just one of many athletes showing us that high school can only be one part of your story and that hard work and perseverance can take you a long way. It should also be noted that his program, NC A&T, is on a hot streak right now and cannot be overlooked as one of the new powerhouses of sprints in the NCAA.
