Two teams in one district separated by 40 miles find themselves earning pre-season national recognition with three-time Group AA state champion Blacksburg girls ranked #10 and Hidden Valley girls ranked #18 in the MileSplit US National Pre-Season Cross Country Team Rankings. Both teams also were featured in an article in the Roanoke Times this weekend on the rivalry, which will see several clashes throughout the season. The Blacksburg girls opened hitting on all cylinders at the Great Meadow Invitational with a decisive win against four-time AAA state champions Midlothian, while Hidden Valley quietly began their season in winning their home meet Clash with the Titanswithout competing with their full squad.
