Virginia native and professional adidas athlete Noah Lyles just ran one of the fastest 200 meter times ever. His 19.50 clocking at the Lausanne Diamond League meeting moved him up to World No. 1 this year and to No. 4 all-time.
The only men to ever run faster than him are Michael Johnson (USA), Yohan Blake (JAM), and Usain Bolt (JAM).
His big improvement comes at a big time with the IAAF World Championships in Doha this September. This will allow him the chance to get his first world medal and also face most of the competition he will likely see in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
His 19.50 at 21 years old is also significantly faster than Bolt's 19.75 best at 21 years old back in 2007. He of course went on to run 19.30 in 2008 and 19.19 in 2009. Both of those times were world records and the 19.19 is still the world record.
