The Warriors from Western Albemarle came and made history at the Class 3 State Championships Saturday. The team of Eliason, Hawkes, Terrill, Taylor, Kallen, Shifflett, and Bonner tied the state record lowest score of 15. They finished 1,2,3,5,6,13,58 overall.
Their win Saturday is also their third title in a row and fourth in five years.
Jack Eliason won the race overall in 15:15, his first XC state title, and last year's champion Joe Hawkes finished second in 15:27. Eliason's time ranks third all-time on the Green Hill Park Course.
The Warriors now join only Loudoun Valley as having scored a perfect score at the State meet. Here are the best scores all-time.
