St. Catherine's Makes It 10 Titles In 13 Years!

RICHMOND, Va. - The Saints of Saint Catherine's School (Richmond) ran away with yet another team title at the VISAA Indoor State Championships. This marked their 10th state team title in just 13 years with the meet starting just 13 years ago.

They scored a staggering 162.5 points to win the title this past weekend and won nine out of the 15 events. In the six events they did not win their highest place was 3rd, 3rd, 3rd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th. So they scored points in every single event.

The Saints were led by Jailah Channer, Willa Shannon, and Archer Gurkin who all combined for 82.5 points themselves.

Though those big three Saints are headed to college next year, St. Catherine's does return over 10 scorers for this year to next including two frosh stars who will certainly help this winning tradition last.

It cannot go overstated either how much of this success is due to Head Coach Sherri Edwards. She is humble and passive but at the same time instills a strong desire to achieve every goal her team sets in her athletes. That is very evident with how these ladies fight for every finish and dip at the line even when the race is over and the meet has been won.

Collegiate took home second place as a team with 71.5 points and Norfolk Academy took home third with 52 points.
