55m Hurdles Preview
The hurdle races with five hurdles each are a race where you can have zero missteps en route to a state title. The following athletes are attempting to do just that and enter as favorites in their respective fields.
Keyandre Midgett (Highland Springs) enters as the favorite in the Class 5 boys race. His next two competitors are Deondre Hardy (Nansemond River) and Jaquez Kirk (Salem). Jahnelle Saunders (Bethel) enters as the favorite in the Class 5 girls race. Her next three competitors are Mekhia McCounts (Maury), Devyn Collier (Matoaca), and Jada Foreman (Atlee). Roland Evans (Western Branch) enters as a co-favorite with Michael Bourne (Cosby) in the Class 6 boys race with Jalen Hinton (Western Branch) and Marcus Wilson (Patriot) behind them. Finally you have Na'Taja Ballard (Western Branch) and Kijah Davenport entered as the first and second choice in the Class 6 girls competition.
