The Tatnall girls are back to defend their Maymont title from a year ago as the top ranked team within the Southeast region. The girls from Wilmington, Delaware will look to bounce back from last weekend’s runner-up finish at the Briarwood Invitational in Philadelphia to a lesser known Arlington High School team from New York. Coach Patrick Castagno has always pointed to the Maymont X-Country Festival as a significant meet in evaluating them against top competition in the Southeast region and their chances of making a run at qualify for Nike Cross Nationals. Tatnall has been a regular fixture at NXN for the past few years in representing the Southeast Region. Tatnall’s Katie Buenaga and Haley Pierce are the top returning finishers from last year’s race with 8th and 9th place finishes in 2008.
