Tewksbury Memorial's Makayla Paige has earned Massachusetts Gatorade Player of the Year Honors for the 2019-2020 season.

Though the 2020 Track & Field season was cut short due to the COVID-19 global pandemic, Paige showed off her range in the indoor season with state leading marks in the 400m, 500m, 600m and 800m while also ranking at the top of the state in the 300m and 1000m.

Massachusetts Girls Indoor State Leaderboard

Paige was the national leader this indoor season with her 1:29.70 600m, ranked US#3 in the 500m at 1:12.35 and US#8 in the 800m at 2:08.01.

"The award, which recognizes not only outstanding athletic excellence, but also high standards of academic achievement and exemplary character demonstrated on and off the field, distinguishes Paige as Massachusetts's best high school girls track & field athlete."

Only a junior, Paige will be back in the 2021 season where she'll continue to build on her legacy and continue to leave her mark on the Massachusetts record books.  Also, now a two time recipient of this award she will look to join Arantxa King (Medford, 2003) as the only two three time winners in state history next season.
