VHSL Changes Course, Now Not Requiring Masks

Monday, December, 14th - The Virginia High School Sports League is back tracking on their earlier statement and now they are not requiring masks for competition. Here is their updated statement

Accordingly, VHSL is rescinding its "requirement" that face coverings be worn during training and competition and is reissuing its guidance to conform with the intent of EO 72 that face masks are "strongly encouraged" but not required. Each school may continue to exercise its discretion and judgment as to safety steps within its athletics programs as it pertains to face coverings. - VHSL

This follows their original guidance issued 12/10/20 saying they were going to require masks for competition and training. The VISAA (private schools) have not changed their guidance allowing athletes and schools to choose whether or not they wear masks during track competitions.
