Group AA Boys Preview

The Blacksburg boys came into this season as the overwhelming favorites to win the Group AA state title and with their opening race at the Great Meadow Invitational, it looked like they were head and shoulders above any team in the state regardless of classification placing five runners ahead of current Group AAA #1 ranked Mountain View’s top finishers. Much has changed since that late August invitational at Great Meadow as the team’s performance at Great American in early October changed the way the team was viewed finishing way back in the competitive field and well behind another Virginia squad in Western Branch.
Junior transfer Anthony Noegel seems to have jumpstarted the squad as of late though as Noegel (ran last year for Brookville) was not running in the team’s top seven for the first half of the season and probably was more concerned to run faster than the Stevens twins on the girls’ team.
