FORK UNION, VA -- Rob Tompkins, who improved his area-leading mark in the pole vault to 14-9 on Feb. 14, leads St. Christopher's in Saturday's Prep League meet, hosted by perennial league power Fork Union.
In the League of Independent Schools meet, also at Fork Union on Saturday, St. Catherine's will need a big day from area 1,600- and 1,000-leader Morgan Barry and a talented group of young middle-distance runners to earn a fourth straight title.
In last Saturday's Hoxton Invitational at Episcopal High School (Alexandria), Barry, with a 2:25.4 anchor leg for 880 yards, Priscilla Farley (2:33.7), Ann Tripp (2:32.7) and Katie Doswell (2:33.5) won the two mile relay at 10:05.0 (equivalent to 10:01.6 for 3,200 meters), a meet and school record and the best in the area this season.
