Three Northern Region schools in James Robinson, Lake Braddock, and West Springfield ventured north to the New York Armory for the New Balance Games and put their best relays on the fast 200 meter banked track. The results were two state leading performances and additional swift times clocked by other relays.

The James Robinson girls had a very successful meet in the sprint relays featuring their star sophomore Genamarie McCant as the Lady Rams coached by Mark Gleason ended up qualifying for the finals of the 4x200 meter relay with a 1:44.37. The quartet proceeded to lower their time in the finals with a fifth place finish and VA #2 performance of 1:43.96. Back in action for the 4x400 meter relay, James Robinson took advantage of its lone opportunity to race on a banked track this season since they will not be at Virginia Tech next weekend with a fourth place state leading time of 3:57.10.

The 4x800 meter relay was a very deep race with two teams who figured to be among Virginia's top two returning relays in the event, but had yet to load up prior to this weekend's meet in Lake Braddock and West Springfield. Neither team disappointed with Lake Braddock running the 13th fastest 4x800 all-time in VA indoor history with a time of 9:19.90, while West Springfield was anchored by a 2:16 split from Foot Locker finalist Paige Kvartunas to take seventh place in a time of 9:25.31. Lake Braddock's performance at the Armory is two seconds faster than the previous state leaders from Blacksburg at 9:21.

The Virginia boys did not have as much success as their female counterparts, but solid times were turned in by them in New York City nonetheless including an 8:12 4x800 from Lake Braddock (10th place) as well as a 1:32.56 4x200 (7th place) and 3:30 4x400 (10th place) by James Robinson.
