It was quite the weekend with Third Battle and MileStat putting on shows and featuring nearly an entirely new leaderboard. Though we knew about some teams, this week was the most telling and we feel strong about this heading into the post-season.
Subjective Boys Top 10 Team Rankings
Three new teams have worked their way onto the list: Maggie Walker (5), Woodbridge (6), and Centreville (7). South Lakes and Altee remained just outside of the list on the bubble. Tuscarora, Oakton, and Abingdon fell off the rankings with this update.
The biggest headline and toughest ranking we had to decide was who is the number one team in the state. We gamed out what the state meet would look like, looked at head to head rankings, looked at just the rankings of Class 4 and in every scenario Blacksburg edged out Charlottesville.
But... the state meet is not won on paper and ultimately it was Charlottesville beating out Blacksburg in a head to head at MileStat. You can say it was just one race but then again the state meet is just one race.
The way it is looking right now is that we could see the 1-2 spot flip after regionals and then maybe again!
