Enough Of The 5K's, It's Time For Some 1K's for Sidney Nolan

One of the most exciting things to see at the start of the indoor season is how the mid-distance stars start to show their talents. One that is really putting an emphasis on that point is Patriot's Sidney Nolan who opened her season with a 2:55 in the 1K and a 1:13 (outdoors) in the 500.

Both of those times are state leading marks for the Patriot senior.

Check out Sidney's Athlete Profile

Sidney, who's best event right now is definitely the 1K made considerable ground during this past XC season. She was able to lower her 5K PR to 19:01. This was a 90 second improvement off of her previous best.

That type of improvement is always fun to see in the more mid-distance runners who are not pure 5K runners.

What is interesting though is the fact that Sidney might be more of a sprinter than distance runner. We'd definitely consider that 2:55 her best performance to date but she was 3rd at States last year in the 500m dash.

If she continues this trend of improving she is going to be tough to beat in the 500, 800, and 1K all year long.
