State Champ Coach Hutton Moving To Direct St. James Program

Current South County Coach,  Maurice Hutton, was announced as the new Director of Track & Field at St. James Academy Friday afternoon. The news was first reported by PRNewswire.com.

This move will certainly shake things up as Coach Hutton has had quite a bit of success these past few years at South County including two state team titles and two state runners-up in four years. Next week he could get another one too as his girls are heavily favored for the Class 6 crown.

In speaking to Coach Hutton, he was quick to note how much he has enjoyed his time at South County and how hungry he is for a new opportunity.

Hutton's success spans multiple schools and his athletes have made their way up the all-time list including a number of top 5 performances all-time on both the boys and girls side.

This year though might be his best year yet with state-leading relays on both the boys and girls side and standout performances from seniors and sophomores alike.

If you're unfamiliar with St. James, you're not alone. This is a new sports academy opening this fall in Northern Virginia. Already in place are well over 100,000 square feet of training space including pools, cryotherapy, weight rooms, and turf fields. The St. James academy aims to combine sports and learning while providing more opportunities for student-athletes.
