Athletes of the Week: Brittany Copeland & Bryce Iverson

Deserving athletes for this week's MileStat.com AOW are Forest Park senior Bryce Iverson and Brooke Point sophomore Brittany Copeland.

Brittany Copeland, Sophomore, Brooke Point High School

Brittany Copeland notched her second consecutive invitational win this past weekend in a very strong field assembled at the Octoberfest Invitational. The Brooke Point sophomore ran a very tactical race as she overtook Broad Run's Stephanie Garcia in the final 400 meters to cross the line first in a time of 19:58.63. Copeland is currently ranked 12th in AAA and should improve upon her ranking after Saturday's victory.

Bryce Iverson, Senior, Forest Park High School

Forest Park senior Bryce Iverson put forth an amazing run at the Maymont Cross Country Festival this past weekend. This year's Maymont course was at a three mile distance and Iverson helped blaze the new path with a smoking winning time of 14:54. While his race performance was very impressive, he earned this week's AOW in part because of the great amount of sportsmanship he showed on Saturday. Northwest Region rival Patterson Wilhelm had lost his shoe early in the race and during the race, Iverson would yell back to Wilhelm that rocky surfaces were up ahead. This act of looking out for his fellow runner is very commendable indeed.
