Grassfield's Kaitlyn Bullock Sets State Record!

It's official, Kaitlyn Bullock is now the greatest shot putter VA has ever had. On Friday, she solidified that statement with a monster 50-3 throw. Her winning mark also won the regional championship (6A) by over eight feet.

Bullock's mark is not only the best outdoor mark ever but over two feet better than Lindsay Neuberger's (Cox) 2002 indoor state record as well.

Though her state record is quite impressive, there are three other factors that jumped out to us making it even more insane.

First, is her progression. Her freshmen year she threw 35-10.5; her sophomore year she threw 39-9; last year, during her junior campaign, she pushed her personal best out to 45-2.5; and this indoor season, she launched it 47-2.

What all this means is she is still improving! Normally, if someone is at their peak in a field event you will have one huge mark and quite a few at a "normal" distance. This is not the case with Kaitlyn who doesn't seem to be even close to her peak... which is insane and proven out by her consistency.

Second, is she is not only great in the shot put... she is arguably better at the discus. She has thrown 159-4 this season and currently sits at VA #4 all-time in the event. The state record for this event is Morgan Graham''s 165-10 set back in 2023. She is quickly on the path to break this record as well and would be the first in VA history (boys or girls) to hold both records.

Finally, we saved the most insane stat for last... with her throw and new state record, Grassfield is now 1-2-3 all-time! The record list now reads Kaitlyn Bullock 50-3, Kiara Howell 49-11.5, and Ebonie Whitted 49-10.

Bullock is also a Florida State commit and signed this May.
