Mayo\'s winning jump of 38 feet, 7 1/2 inches, qualified her to compete in the Eastern College Athletic Conference Championships in Boston in March.
Junior Nelly Anderson (Charlotte, N.C./Cordillera Academy) and senior Cindy Dunham (Warren, Pa./Warren) finished one-two in the 3,000 meters. Anderson ran a personal-best 10 minutes, 10.47 seconds, improving her previous PR of 10:17.46. Dunham was clocked in 10:24.11.
Other top places for the Dukes included freshman Marisa Biggins (Chesapeake, Va./Great Bridge), who took third in the 60-meter hurdles (9.23 seconds). Juniors Brittany Yates (Virginia Beach, Va./Tallwood) and Sydney Binney (Charlottesville, Va./Monticello) both cleared 10\'9\" in the pole vault, but Yates finished third and Binney fifth on the tie-breaker.
