Lizzie Powell clears US #3 13-3 pole vault to break own state record

Lizzie Powell (pictured left by John Herzog) of Patrick Henry extended her state record in the pole vault to an even greater height tonight at Deep Run High School with a US #3 successful clearance of 13'3". Powell had first set the state record at the Lee-Davis Invitational on April 17th as the first female vaulter in state history to clear 13 feet. Only Morgann Leleux from Louisiana at 13'7" and Kortney Ross from California at 13'5" have went higher than Powell in the pole vault this outdoor season in the country. Powell also won the long jump at the 12 team meet at Deep Run.
