Loudoun Valley sophomore Audrey Houghton has to do a quick turnaround between her top two events of the 400 meter dash and 800 meter run with the 300 meter hurdles as her only break to separate her two races. The limited recovery time has not affected her this outdoor season though as she currently has the Northwest Region's fastest time and several invitational wins in the 400 meter dash, while most recently running a PR time of 2:18 in the 800 meter run doubling back from a 400 win at VMI. With the perfect mix of speed and endurance, Houghton seems destined to become a great 800 meter runner as the district champion and top 25 finisher this past cross country season might have the fastest open 400 PR out of any competitive runner from the fall season at 57.35. Houghton is the top seed in both the 400 and 800 on Friday at the Loudoun County Championships.
