WOODSTOCK, VA -- The Fort Defiance boys didn't have a strong front runner, but their tight pack paid off placing their top 5 in the top 16 for a team score of 52 points. Turner Ashby took second place as they were led by Michael Stover's 4th place finishing time of 16:19.
Harrisonburg senior Jorge Ruiz broke his own course record by 30 seconds, winning the boys race in 15:08. Stuarts Draft senior Evan Kays finished 14 ticks later at 15:22, good enough for second place.
The Turner Ashby girls were simply awesome in their district title win as they placed 7 runners in the top 13 for a total score of 20 points. They were paced by Betsy Kain, who won the girls race in a time of 18:44.
