JMU men\'s indoor track begins spring semester of competition

LEWISBURG, Pa. (1/10/05) – Juniors David Bolton (Leesburg, Va./Loudoun County) and Travis Lambert (Charlottesville, Va./Albemarle) each had third-place showings in the sections of their respective events at the Gulden Relays hosted by Bucknell University on Saturday. The meet was the first of the calendar year for the Dukes, who plan to compete each weekend leading up to the March 4-5 IC4A Indoor Championships in Boston.

Bolton finished third in the second section of the 3,000-meter race with a time of nine minutes and 26.17 seconds. Right on his heels was freshman teammate Andrew Waring (Vienna, Va./James Madison), who took fourth in 9:27.58. They were respectively 15th and 16th in the combined field of 26 runners.

Lambert clocked in at 4:44.72 in the mile, placing third in his section and ninth overall in a field of 21 runners.

The Dukes' 4x800 relay squad finished third among the seven teams entered. Junior Paul Cawley (Point Pleasant, N.J./Christian Brothers Academy), sophomore Josiah Cadle (Charlottesville, Va./Western Albemarle), freshman Jon Fulginiti (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) and freshman Stephen Knight (Elkton, Va./Spotswood) combined for a time of 8:09.26.

Junior Pat Barron (Johnstown, Pa./Westmont Hilltop) finished fourth in the pole vault with a height of 4.42 meters. There were nine vaulters competing. Sophomore Josh White (Nokesville, Va./Brentsville) placed fifth among 17 entries in the triple jump with a distance of 13.27 meters. White also tied teammate Danny Kiely (Old Tappan, N.J./Northern Valley) for fifth in the high jump with a height of 1.88 meters.

Next on the docket for the Dukes is the Virginia Tech Invitational, Jan. 14-15 in Blacksburg, Va.
