Mayo improves ECAC qualifying mark in women\'s triple jump

LEWISBURG, Pa., Jan. 8, 2005 – James Madison sophomore Adrienne Mayo (Reston, Va./South Lakes) clinched first place in the triple jump at Bucknell's Gulden Relays on Saturday.

Mayo\'s jump of 39 feet, 2 1/4 inches qualified her to compete in the Eastern College Athletic Conference Championships in Boston in March. She had already qualified for the ECAC post-season with a jump of 38 feet, 7 1/2 inches in December.

The 4x800 team of sophomores Annie Devinney (Huntington Valley, Pa./Lower Moreland) and Rachel Giannascoli (Havertown,Pa./Haverford), senior Sarah Kirtland (Herndon, Va./Oakton), and freshman Jamie Taggert (Hatfield, Pa./North Penn) also placed first with a time of 9:58.53.

Freshman Marisa Biggins (Chesapeake, Va./Great Bridge) placed third in the 60 meter hurdles at 9.47.
