Tribe's DMR Also Breaks IC4A Barrier
CHAPEL HILL, NC - Junior Jason Schoener (Grand Blanc, MI) qualified for the IC4A Championships in the 3,000m as two-time defending CAA Champion William and Mary men's track and field competed Saturday at the Carolina Classic. The North Carolina-hosted meet also included teams from Duke, N. C. State, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest and CAA programs UNC-Wilmington and Virginia Commonwealth.Schoener clocked a personal record 8:28.76 to break the IC4A qualifying mark in the 3,000m, claiming third in the race. The Tribe's distance medley relay also qualified for the IC4As by clocking a 10:10.85, good enough for runner-up honors in the event.
Sophomore Matt Warco (McMurray, PA) clocked a 4:17.58 in the mile, a few seconds shy of the IC4A mark, to claim fifth in the race, just ahead of senior Bill Tarantino (Woodbridge, VA) in sixth.
The Tribe is back in action February 11-12 as split squads will contest the Virginia Tech Challenge in Blacksburg, VA and Christopher Newport's Winter Frolic in Newport News, VA.
