Top 50 individual boys returnees for the upcoming 2010 cross country season based on 5K PR's from the 2009 season. Group AAA boys are certainly lacking in the depth of star power in their returnees for the upcoming season compared to Group AA who has four of the top seven returning times from last fall led by a strong trio in returning state cross country champion Kyle King of Grafton along with state runner-up Thomas Curtin of Loudoun County and George Carter of Blacksburg. It should be a thrilling finish once again at Great Meadows in Group AA as it was last fall with King, Curtin, and Colin Mearns. Only one tenth of a second separated King and Carter in their final cross country races last year at the Nike Cross Southeast Regional.
Midlothian senior Brayden Burleigh ran a 9:15 3200 this outdoor season and last year qualified for the Nike Cross Nationals with his 15:24 personal best run at the regional qualifier, which is the fastest 5K PR among all returnees. Woodberry Forest's Kevin Bennert will be the favorite to win the private school state this November boasting track PR's of 4:18 in the 1600 and 9:20 to end his outdoor season to accompany his 15:33 run from Foot Locker South.
