GALAX, VA -- The Galax boys and girls both went onto to win Mountain Empire district team titles, thanks due in part to the races of Chad Roberts and Elizabeth Mattson.
Roberts won the boys race in a time of 16:43 and finishing behind him for second was teammate Andy Haines with a time of 16:55. The Tide boys placed their entire top 7 in the top 10 for a team score of 19 as they won their 12th straight district title.
Mattson finished well ahead of the competition with her time of 20:22 as Paola Grabman of Grayson\'s County tooks second 57 seconds later at 21:19. The Lady Tide also placed their entire top 7 in the top 10 for a total of 22 points.
