NSIC Day One: Virginia Highlights

NEW YORK, NY -- On the first day of events at the National Scholastic Indoor Championships held at the Armory in New York City, the Lake Braddock High School track squad was able to garner three All-American performances, while several other Virginian relays and individuals had strong performances including a national runner-up performance by the Manchester girls in the 4x55 shuttle hurdle relay.

Potomac Senior\'s Kharya Brown was the sole qualifier from Virginia to Saturday\'s preliminaries for the 60 meter dash as she had the 14th fastest time overall in the first rounds of the event. Brown posted a time of 7.72 as the fourth fastest finisher in heat one.

Washington-Lee senior Karin Ohman finished 10th overall in the girls\' 5000 meter run. Ohman posted a time of 19:24.54 in the 25 lap event.

The James Robinson (16th, 4:02.19) and Manchester (17th, 4:02.28) girls posted solid times, but were unable to advance out of the preliminary heats of the 4x400 meter relay.
