Potomac Senior\'s Kharya Brown was the sole qualifier from Virginia to Saturday\'s preliminaries for the 60 meter dash as she had the 14th fastest time overall in the first rounds of the event. Brown posted a time of 7.72 as the fourth fastest finisher in heat one.
Washington-Lee senior Karin Ohman finished 10th overall in the girls\' 5000 meter run. Ohman posted a time of 19:24.54 in the 25 lap event.
The James Robinson (16th, 4:02.19) and Manchester (17th, 4:02.28) girls posted solid times, but were unable to advance out of the preliminary heats of the 4x400 meter relay.
The Lake Braddock girls had a sensational performance in the distance medley relay as they posted a swift time of 12:13.04 to take four place in the event as well as earn All-American honors.
The Manchester girls nearly earned a national title in the 4x55 shuttle hurdle relay as they won their heat in a time of 35.55, but had to settle as national runners-up as New Rochelle Senior High School of New York posted a faster time of 35.09 in another heat.
Multiple state champion Ashley Haislip earned yet another All-American honor as the Lake Braddock senior finished third in the high jump competition with a clearance of 5-8.
State record holder in the girls\' pole vault, Western Albemarle junior Ashley Early, finished Friday\'s preliminaries in the event tied for first with a clearance of 11-5.25. Early will have an excellent opportunity at a national title in tomorrow\'s finals. Meanwhile, Group AAA state runner-up Anna Noguchi qualified for Saturday\'s finals with a clearance of 10-7.50 (14th overall).
Lake Braddock junior Teresa McCoy finished seventh overall in the girls\' shot put with a toss of 39-8, but still managed to earn top six All-American honors as the top two finishers in the event were from Canada.
Lake Braddock senior Brad Clark ran a solid time of 16:00.28 to finish 20th overall in the boys\' 5000 meter run.
The James Robinson boys finished one spot away from advancing to the finals of the boys\' 4x400 meter relay as they finished 13th overall in the preliminaries with a time of 3:26.66.
