Woodberry Forest senior Kevin Bennert (pictured left by John Herzog) is not only a favorite to win the private school state cross country title this fall while also trying to help lead his team to another state crown on their home course in November, but could be Virginia's best harrier this upcoming season. Bennert made news over the summer when he clocked a 15:01 5K on the track at the USATF Junior Olympic Nationals.
The Woodberry Forest boys are known for slow starts and not necessarily being the strongest team on paper when looking at PR's especially from track yet still finishing strong when it matters in cross country, but the Trinity and Bishop Ireton boys are hoping their development during the track season does not go to waste in their attempts to knock off the Tigers at the Woodberry Forest 5K course in November.
