Hornet Track Competes at Emory University

ATLANTA, GA – The Lynchburg College outdoor track & field teams competed Saturday at the Emory University Spring Break Invitational.

LC senior Will Carpenter (Rustburg, VA/Rustburg) broke the school record in the hammer throw – with a heave of 151'4". Ryan Holmes (Glenn Allen, VA/JR Tucker) won the triple jump (44'5") and took second in the long jump (21'8 ½"), and Travis Wray (Newburg, MD/La Plata) finished second in the 1,500 meters in 4:00.59. Mike Lansdowne (Manassas, VA/Osbourn) ran a 10.94 in the 100-meter dash and finished the 200-meter dash in 22.10, while Bryan Kirby (Alexandria, VA/Edison) finished the 800 meters in 1:57.97.

Freshman Mary Mohay (Fairfax, VA/Robinson) qualified provisionally for NCAA competition in the pole vault, clearing 10'11 ¾". Ashley Palmer (Alexandria, VA/Westlake) also qualified provisionally for nationals, running a 64.01 in the 400-meter hurdles, and also competed in the long jump (17'6 ½") and the 100-meter high hurdles (16.49). Sarah Funderburke (Fredericksburg, VA/Courtland) ran a 62.08 in the 400-meters, while Jomaree Boyd (Bronx, NY/A. Philip Randolph) finished third in the shot put (35'7 ½").

LC will compete next weekend at Liberty University.
