Tatu and Perkinson outdistance the rest

CHESTERFIELD, VA -- Thomas Dale sophomore Alex Tatu and Prince George's Sarah Perkinson made it look too easy to win a district title as they finished far ahead of the competition on their way to district titles.

Tatu completed the 5K course at Pocohantas State Park in 16:46 as second place finished far behind with Meadowbrook's William Phillips taking runner up honors with a time of 17:15. However, Phillips led the way for the Meadowbrooks boys as they won the Central District title with 31 points. Tatu's team finished second with 39 points. Prince George (97 pts) and Dinwiddie (108 pts) also will be advancing to the Central Region Meet with Meadowbrook and Thomas Dale.

Sarah Perkinson of Prince George could have put in cruise control if she wanted to and probably still have won the race. With Perkinson's time of 19:53, she finished well over a minute ahead of the second place finisher. Along with her district individual title, she got to enjoy a team title as well as Prince George placed 6 runners in the top 15 to have a total score of 35 points. Also advancing onto the Central Region meet are Thomas Dale (45 pts), Petersburg (84 pts), and Dinwiddie (89 pts).
